Your Honeywell Home thermostat uses the weather forecast to automatically heat and cool your home at the best times to help you save money, keep you comfortable and help Texas maintain electrical grid stability during peak energy use times.
You’ll always be notified in advance of when your smart thermostat will be auto-adjusted, so you’re always in control, with the power to opt out at any time.
Program Requirements
To be eligible, you must have:
- Have a Wi-Fi network
- Have an approved smart thermostat that controls the home's heating and cooling systems
- Live within the service area of Oncor, CenterPoint Energy, Texas-New Mexico Power, or AEP Texas (Customers of Austin Energy and CPS Energy are not eligible)
- Have an active electricity Smart Meter at the account service address

The goal is to better understand the benefits and savings potential of thermostat optimization. Participants can opt-out anytime at their convenience and there is no cost to participate in this program.

Energy Hero Rewards analyzes proprietary local weather data and usage data from your Wi-Fi thermostat to build an energy model of your home to understand how it reacts to various weather conditions. Using this model, we intelligently adjust the times your cooling and heating system is active so your home remains comfortable, while you save energy and money. We do not change your thermostat schedule or temperature setpoints in any way — we simply optimize how your setpoints are reached. You are always in control and can override the settings at any time.
The weather has a significant impact on the thermodynamics of every building – changing the length of time it takes to heat up or cool down; the amount of heat or cooling lost through walls, windows and cracks; and the amount of energy required to keep occupants comfortable. For example, the amount of energy an air conditioning unit uses to cool a building varies with outside air temperature—the hotter it is outside, the harder the air conditioner has to work to keep the building cool.
Temperature, humidity, wind and heat from the sun are the next largest factors in determining how much you pay to keep your home comfortable. Energy Hero Rewards optimizes energy use and lowers energy bills by understanding current and expected local weather conditions, and how a home will react to them. In your area, you may save between $71 – $117 every year the service is active.

Your data will enable Resideo and Energy Hero Rewards to evaluate energy savings in residential homes in selected climate zones in the state of Texas. Any information shared with Honeywell and Energy Hero Rewards will be subject to the Energy Hero Rewards service privacy policy.
Energy Hero Rewards uses data from your Wi-Fi thermostat, and local, real-time weather data to develop an energy model of your home to understand how it responds to varying local weather conditions.
