No – just use your thermostat as you normally would. The system will tweak the energy consumption at peak times and if you're too uncomfortable, you can opt out of the event at any time.
No – this program should have very low impact on your life. Your thermostat will only join an event when needed and events are pretty rare. There may be a few events each season that last about 1 hour. There could be a TRUE EMERGENCY event that could last for half a day, but this is unlikely and historically not common.
You will see a message displayed on your thermostat display as well as in your thermostat’s app.
Yes – just change your thermostat setting on your device or in the app and your normal schedule will commence. To be removed from the Connected Savings® program entirely, send an opt-out email request to firstname.lastname@example.org. This process may take up to 2 business days.
By allowing Resideo to adjust your consumption just a little, means more supply for those who need it, and supply does not need to be brought in from other places.
Of course – nothing changes on your billing or details with your utility. As part of the enrollment process, you will be asked to authorize Resideo’s agent to obtain energy usage data associated with your utility account on a secure and confidential basis, and only for the purpose of enrollment and participation. If you want to restrict access to your data, please send an email to email@example.com and you will be un-enrolled from the program.
Under certain conditions, such as when a power plant drops offline, the electric grid can become unstable. This can strain the power infrastructure causing dirtier fuel sources to be leveraged, and in extreme cases, the grid can run short on power supply, leading to brownouts or blackouts. During these times and when demand approaches capacity, we may adjust your usage to help keep energy costs low and the grid stable — this is called Demand Response.
A serious grid emergency can lead to a blackout that leaves your home with no power. It’s not just the loss of lights, air conditioning and other things you depend on, a blackout can also have a heavy economic toll on local businesses. If we all work together, this can be prevented. Connected Savings helps us use the grid infrastructure more efficiently, helps you avoid higher electric bills and helps everyone with less negative impact to the environment.
The Connected Savings® program optimizes the thermostat settings to keep customers as comfortable as possible when grid emergencies occur. When there is enough lead time, the Connected Savings® program precools or preheats properties in advance of the event periods and rotates cooling/heating across all houses in the program to balance how much energy is used across the community, while keeping customers comfortable.
You will receive an electronic MasterCard to the email address you enrolled with after enrollment approval in June. Only one incentive is paid for each home enrolled.
As many qualified Wi-Fi enabled thermostats that are installed at your home. The incentive is paid per home, but the more thermostats you can enroll, the larger contribution you can have for the grid.
